Welcome to Autism Resources...the site for parents, carers and childcare/education professionals.

Autistic spectrum disorder is one of the most common life-long developmental disorders, and affects people from all backgrounds. Approximately 1% of people in the UK have an ASD; Boys are around four times more likely to have autism than girls.
The spectrum includes a
wide range of symptoms, and generally includes difficulties with:

  • Social skills and interaction
  • Communication and language skills
  • Physical skills and behaviour

What can you find on Autism Resources?

We aim to provide you with a range of links to useful (and FREE!) information about the education and development of children with a range of special educational, emotional or additional needs. In particular, we focus on resources aimed at children with autism, Asperger syndrome and other ASDs.

At Autism Resources, we hope to have something of interest for you and the child or children you care for or work with.

Why does this site just provide resources for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders?

Although the resources on this site are primarily aimed at children with ASDs, they will also suit children with other disabilities and special educational needs (and mainstream children too!).

We hope this site will be of use to parents, carers, childminders, teaching assistants, teachers and other education professionals.

My child has an Autistic Spectrum Disorder, where can I find more information?

Our support and information page lists a number of organisations which will be able to help you. If you can't find the information you require online, try phoning one of the national helplines.

If you know of any other useful support organisations or resource links, please let us know, by using the 'Contact Us' page.

Want to add your experiences or links to this site?

Use the 'Contact Us' page to send us details of your experience of raising or working with children with ASD. From pre-diagnosis to inclusion and beyond, we'd love to hear from you. Please note that we would be happy to change names and locations when appropriate to protect confidentiality.

We'd also llike to hear from you, if you can recommend any other related websites or online resources.

Katie recommends "There are lots of Facebook groups for parents of autistic children, including one for the National Autistic Society."

Sal recommends "Don't be afraid to talk to the SENCO about your child's needs, if they are in mainstream education. Several times I have been able to suggest simple things which will help my child at school."
